Maria Nielli born in Turin in 1883 became Nina Ricci when she moved to Paris. The Couture House and brand ‘Nina Ricci’ was founded by Maria
“Nina” Ricci and her son, Robert, in Paris in 1932 and it was her son that created the in-house perfume division back in 1941. Since 1998, the house of Nina Ricci is owned by the third-generation family-owned fashion and fragrance business called Puig based in Barcelona.
The original Mademoiselle Ricci fragrance was launched back in 1967 as the female counterpart to complement the male ‘Signoricci’ which was released in 1965. The original was discontinued at some point in the 1990’s. It was more of a floral, green, chypre, citrus fragrance and very different to this re-launch of 2012. Although I am a big fan of the re-launched fragrance, I would love to experience the original.
For me, the re-launch is more representational of Nina Ricci and what she stood for in her designs.
Nina Ricci and her work was renowned for being feminine, classic, refined, romantic and perfectly finished. This is what the re-launched fragrance invokes in me.
The base notes are violet, cedar, amber, musky and white wood.
The middle notes are laurel, rose hip and the nerium oleander provide the sweet, warm and powder finish.
The top notes are raspberry, pink pepper and wild rose.
Mademoiselle Ricci (2012) is classed as a floral woody musk fragrance which makes me feel refined, romantic and feminine.
As the Eau de Parfum settles, I smell a sweet, rose, powder finish; almost reminiscent of an old classic romantic movie and the strength yet softness of the female heroine.
I would say that it is a medium intensity fragrance and moderate to long lasting; perfectly balanced for day or night wear.
I reach for this fragrance when I want to feel pretty and ladylike.
This is the perfect wedding day fragrance!
In Cyprus, this perfume is available in Debenhams stores.
