What is Niacinamide?

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 and is well known in the skincare industry for its soothing and healing properties.

My Opinion

Deciem began to bring balance back to the beauty industry and exists to marry function, design, and authenticity in skincare. The Ordinary, Deciem’s largest brand champions skin-changing ingredients; quality skincare ingredients and brings them to us at very low prices.

Estée Lauder’s this year made a $1 billion purchase for a majority stake in the Canadian-based, multi-brand company this year. I hope this is not a detriment to the brand. Deciem, if you do not know its history, has had a rocky road, to say the least since its inception in 2012 by Brandon Truaxe. I use both the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and the 100% Niacinamide Powder in my daily skincare. I use the serum during the day and I mix the powder in with my essence in the evening. It keeps my skin balanced, hydrated, and healthy.

Healthy skin should be our goal. When our skin is healthy, it is hydrated, it glows from within, and is well insultated from the elements.

I naturally have a reactive skin type and at times mild psoriasis. Niacinamide when applied to the skin topically reduces inflammation, and eases redness from eczema, acne, and other inflammatory skin conditions. It also supports the skin barrier (the outer surface of the skin) and increases its resiliency by increasing the natural lipids found on the skin surface and reducing water loss.

Skincare is all about the ingredients and Deciem is all about this and the integrity of those ingredients. Introducing one specific ingredient into my routine has re-balanced my skin.
