It just so happened, quite by accident, my sister and I decided to make some family changing decisions together and unknowingly selected our timing perfectly. Our first baby is due on the 24th August and my sister’s wedding is the 16th September. This means that the most of the family are arriving over the next two to three weeks and our mum has already arrived.
When mum arrives, it usually means perfume gift time and normally it is one that I do not own. We are creatures of habit and although I do buy new perfumes, I have firm favourites which I repeat purchase. This visit is no exception and once again, it is a perfume new to me; it would not be something that I would have necessarily tried any other way but I am enjoying wearing it.
The ‘Angel Perfume Universe’ is generally a sweet one and often a little too sweet for my taste. However, there is a tanginess to this fragrance which has made it an appealing choice and one that I am savouring in this hot weather.
Who Is Thierry Mugler?
Thierry Mugler is a fashion designer and perfumer from France. He was born in 1948 in Strasbourg. At the age of 20, Thierry Mugler left his hometown of Strasbourg for Paris. There, his allure and style were on display for all to see. Mugler would often wear his own creations and a freelance career as a designer soon opened up to him. He began by working with major fashion houses, then created his first collection in 1973 called «Café de Paris».
Thierry Mugler decided that there was nothing that he could not do: ballet dancer, interior designer, architecture enthusiast, photographer, art director and stylist. Thierry Mugler turned the luxury designer world upside down and instills excess and freedom in everything he creates.
Thierry Mugler himself approached the Clarins group to propose making his first fragrance. Having revolutionised the world of fashion, he wanted a partner that could bring his brand to life through a fragrance. The result of the meeting between Thierry Mugler and Jacques Courtin-Clarins is called Angel which was released in 1992.
Angel is the first gourmand perfume ever. Gourmand meaning a perfume consisting primarily of synthetic edible scents; a fragrance good enough to eat containing a combination of praline and chocolate mixed with a strong accord of patchouli. This fragrance for Thierry Mugler is inspired by childhood memories and encapsulated in a star-shaped bottle.
ANGEL EAU SUCRÉE 2017
ANGEL EAU SUCRÉE is a celebration of sweet indulgence and was released as the limited edition for 2015 and re-released in 2017. Sensual and mischievous, EAU SUCRÉE concentrates the aromas of confectionery treats in a swirl of tangy freshness and tantalising sweet indulgence.
The base notes are vanilla and patchouli.
The middle notes are caramel and meringue.
The top notes are sorbet, red berries and citruses.
Angel Eau Sucrée (2017) brings together sparkling fresh notes with delicious sweets; the promise of tangy, decadent delight.
I would say that it is a light to medium intensity fragrance and not very long lasting. However, it is a EDT and is only available as a 50ml EDT. It is a perfectly balanced light summer fragrance for day or night wear.
